Instructions for configuring the Outlook Desktop Client
for use at school.
(Please complete the steps listed below when you are in
the school building.)
It is possible that the mail server will automatically
reconfigure your Outlook settings. If so, when you open Outlook
you should
see Connected to Microsoft Exchange in the lower right corner of your
screen. If you are not connected, follow the steps below.
- If Outlook is
open you will need to close it
- Click the
START button
- Click Control
Panel
- Double click
the Mail icon, which will open the window below

- Click the
E-mail Accounts… button, which will open the window below

- Click on your
mail account Name so that is highlighted, as above
- Click Change
on the toolbar, which will open the window below (Make sure you do not
accidentally click Remove)

- In the box to
the right of Microsoft Exchange Server, replace EX6.wc.trevornet.org
with
TDEX01.wc.trevornet.org
- Make sure the
box to the left of Use Cached Exchange Mode is checked
- Click the Check Name box to reaffirm your user name. (If that does not
work, delete and re-enter your name in the format: last name, first name)
- Click Next until you see a Finished or
Okay button and click on it.
- Open Outlook and make sure you are connected to Exchange\

for use on your laptop when you are outside of school. (Please complete the additional steps listed below
after you have configured Outlook to work inside the school building.)
- In Outlook,
select Tools then Account Settings... which will open the box below
- Click on your
mailbox account name, which will highlight it
Click the
Change... button

- The next box
you’ll see is Change E-Mail Account
- Click the More
Settings... button in the lower right corner of the box

- Click the
Connection tab
- Click the box
to the left of Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP
- Click the
Exchange Proxy Settings button

- When the
Microsoft Exchange Proxy Settings box opens, enter tdex01.wc.trevornet.org
in the first white space (example below)
- Check the box to the left of Only connect to proxy servers that have this
principal name in their certificate:
- Enter msstd:tdex01.wc.trevornet.org in the second white box
- Check the box to the left of On fast networks, connect using HTTP first,
then connect using TCP/IP
- Make sure the box to the left of On slow networks, connect
using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP is also checked
- Under Proxy authentication settings, select Basic Authentication
- Click the OK buttons until you see the Finish
button
- Click the Finish button

- Close Outlook
- Wait about 1 minute and restart Outlook.
- Note: In some versions of Outlook the Microsoft
Exchange Proxy Settings dialog box (below) may read “Mutually authenticate
the session when connecting with SSL” instead of "Only connect to proxy
servers that have this principal name in their certificate box"
