Internet Safety is of paramount importance at Trevor and we discuss
this topic with students throughout the year. We expect that students will learn to navigate the Internet safely and abide by
our acceptable use policy while on the school network. We do not employ Internet
filters, but do insist that students use the Internet responsibly. Email
filters are installed on our servers and students may do additional
screening of unwanted information on their laptops.
We also expect parents to play an essential role in this process by being aware of their children's
Internet activity at home. Most important, we want
to help students become Internet savvy, able to identify good
information, dismiss inaccurate data and know what to do when they
encounter inappropriate information.
We want our students to become life
long learners who know how to protect themselves as they navigate the
web and are able to use the myriad tools offered by this most exciting and ever
expanding global information age in which we find ourselves.
In the early spring of 2008, Internet Safety consultant Brian Mull paid a
visit, speaking to Upper School parents, students and teachers.
