Dial-Up Internet Services
  • The speed of Dial-Up Internet Services is adequate for accessing email and many websites with less graphical content.

  • Dial up service is generally more universal; if you have a dial up account from a national or international ISP you can access the internet not only from home but from nearly anyplace you travel to in the country or the world.

  • Using dial up service will tie up your phone line while your computer is online. Most users of dial up services will want to have an extra phone line or will be limited in their use of the internet due to sharing a single line for voice and computer use.

  • Dial up services range from about $10 a month for limited access to about $25 a month for unlimited access.

  • NetZero, Earthlink and Verizon are examples of popular dial-up ISP's.

  • Setting up a dial up service is generally easy and can be done by following instructions on the ISP's install software, provided on a CD.
