By changing your keyboard to "United States - International", you can then type accents in other programs such as PowerPoint and Outlook.  Click here for Office 2000 users.

For Office XP users:
Go to the Control Panel.  Click on Regional and Language Options.  Go to the Languages Tab and click on the Details button.  Choose United States - International.  Apply/OK.

KEYBOARD COMMANDS for International:
You do not use the control key for accents when in the US - International keyboard.

Click on the Properties button (in middle).

Using the arrow, scroll down to United States-International (it was originally set at United States-101).

Click APPLY, then OK.  (If you don't click apply, then it will not work).

To get back to the regular United States-101, follow the directions from the beginning and just change it back.
