Settings for eTrust InoculateIT

 
 

Open eTrust InoculateIT by going to Start/ Programs/ eTrust InoculateIT/ eTrust InoculateIT.

Go to Scanner/ Local Scanner Options

1) Under Detection, keep the Scanning Engine on VET.

2) On the Scan Tab, Set the File Actions to Delete File and the Boot Sector Actions to Cure Boot Sector.

3) Go to the Selection Tab and check the Memory box.

4) Go to the Display Tab, set the Files Option to Show All Files and check Show summary after scan completes.

5) Go to the Log Tab and make sure Infected Files and Skipped Files are both checked.

6) Click OK.

Go to Scanner/ Realtime Monitor Options

1) On the Scan Tab, Set the File Actions to Cure File and the Boot Sector Actions to Cure Boot Sector.

2) On the Selection Tab, put Scanning Engine on InoculateIT.  ETrust has two independent scanning methods; for maximum protection you want it to use both.

3) Click on the File Options Button.  Uncheck Copy File in Action to Perform Before Cure.  In Action to Perform if Cure Fails, click on Move File.  Under Trojan/Worm Treatment, check the Cure by Deleting box.  Check Enable System Cure.  Click OK.S

4) Click OK again.
 

Go to Scanner/ Scheduled Scan Job

1) Click create.

2) For Description, but in "Weekly Scan" or "Daily Scan" or whatever.

3) Under schedule, put in the schedule you want.
 

Go to Scanner/ Signature Update Options

1) On the Schedule Tab, check Enable Scheduled Download.

2) Set the Date to tomorrow’s date (even if tomorrow happens to be Saturday).  Be sure that the date is set correctly on your laptop as well.  Click here on how to check the date.

3) Pick any time of day and enter it in the Time box.  It doesn’t matter what time you choose.  You do not have to be at school at that time or have your computer on.

4) Set “Repeat Every” to 1 “Days”.  (Do NOT click OK yet.  If you did, go to Scanner, Signature Update Options.)

5) On the Incoming Tab, Click on the ADD button.  Make sure the “Method” is already set to Redistribution Server.  For the “Server Name” type in HS5.  Click OK.

6) Click once on the FTP option in the “Sites to download signatures from” box and click on the EDIT button.  Set the “Proxy Name” to FW4.  Click OK. 

7) Click once on the Redistribution Server (HS5) option in the “Sites to download signatures from” box and click the up arrow to move the Redistribution Server (HS5) option to the top of the list.

8) Click on the Download Now button.  Wait about 45 seconds....

9) You should see an Antivirus Download Manager tell you that the process has initialized and then that the signatures were downloaded successfully!

10) Exit the eTrust InoculateIT program.  You are done!

To check the time and date on your computer:

On the lower right corner of your computer, look for the time and double click on it.  Set it for the correct date and time and make sure you're in Eastern Standard Time.

You can also go to Start/Settings/Control panel and double click on the Date/Time icon.
