Putting a password protected screen saver on your computer
  1. Right click on an open space on your desktop
  2. Click on Properties
  3. Click on the Screen Saver Tab
  4. Choose a screen Saver from the drop down Menu (note some screen savers that are not from Microsoft cannot be password protected)
  5. Check the box next to password protected
  6. Click on the Change button
  7. Enter and Confirm your password
  8. Click OK.
  9. You should get a message "the password has been successfully changed" Click OK.
  10. Set the wait time to 1 or 2 minutes
  11. Click Ok

You can also follow the instructions below to install a shortcut to your screen saver on your desk top and a shortcut key combination so that you can start your screen saver immediately when you leave your desk

  1. Navigate to Windows\System
  2. Find the file with the same name as your screen saver (for example scrolling marquee.scr) All files have a .scr file extension
  3. Right click on the file and choose send to
  4. Then choose Desktop.

An icon will appear on your desktop after a moments wait.

  1. Close out of the Windows\system window.
  2. Click on the Icon. Your screen saver should start.

If you want to install a keystroke (three keys (ctrl –alt-s)) command to start your screen saver follow the instructions below:

  1. Right click on your desktop icon and click on Properties.
  2. Click in the field marked shortcut key.
  3. press the ctrl key and choose a letter you want to add to the ctrl-alt- combination (S is my choice for screen saver)
  4. The combination Ctrl + Alt +S should appear
  5. In the field above marked Start In write in c:\Windows\System
  6. Click Ok
  7. press your key combination and your screen saver should start.
