Friday, February 08, 2008 Protecting Students'
Identities: Revised Content Guidelines for TrevorNet, Classroom,
Virtual Common Room and Trevor.org Web Pages
These guidelines for TrevorNet and Trevor.org have been established to protect
the identities of our students. It is essential for teachers to assume full
responsibility for the contents of their class websites and virtual common
rooms. Please note the significant change in policy regarding the posting
of student names and photos on Trevornet, classroom and virtual common room web
pages.
- Photos of students are permissible, unless a parent has indicated
otherwise in the school/family contract). Since TrevorNet, class websites
and virtual common rooms are password protected sites, images of students
may be associated with their first names. Student nicknames, last names or
initials of last names may not appear on the site. Identical first names may
be shown with an agreed upon modifier, such as Rachael I, Rachael II,
Rachael III.
- Trevor.org is accessible to the general public therefore student names
or initials, in any form, may not appear on the site.
- Picture filenames or folder names must never contain student last names
or initials of last names.
- First names (only) may be used in conjunction with student work on
Trevornet, but not on Trevor.org.
- E-mail links to individual students, their phone numbers or personal
addresses may not appear on any school website.
