Possible Issues:
- Issue 1: When you open a page in FrontPage and save after
making changes, your changes do not appear to have been saved and do not
display on the Internet
-or-
- Issue 2: Your changes are saved and display in FrontPage
but are not immediately visible on the Internet.
Solutions:
- Solution 1: Sometimes, especially when requesting to edit
a page using the Edit with Microsoft Office FrontPage function in Internet
Explorer, FrontPage will err by opening a page for editing without actually
connecting the the associated site. One symptom that this has happened is
that the Folder List, usually found on the left side of the FrontPage
interface, is missing. Another symptom is that the page will try to be saved
on the C: drive of the local computer. If this occurs, do the following.
- Keep the page with your changes open in FrontPage
- Click File/Open Site
-
Enter
the complete site address (URL) in the Site Name Dialogue Box
- Click Open
- Locate the desired file you intended to edit
- Double click on the file to open it for editing
- Copy or enter the desired changes from the first file into the
original and Save
- Solution 2: Our network uses SSL (Secure Socket Layer)
security which serves to encrypt web information. This means that you have
to use an "s" as in https:// before web
addresses when viewing pages on our web and when editing them in FrontPage.
If you are working within the school network, you will not be able to see
changes immediately if you do not use https:// to view the
changes you have made.
- New pages have to be saved and cached on our proxy servers. They are
scheduled to be cached every hour. But they are immediately visible for
users who have access to the network from the Internet.
- Always use https:// to edit or view any web page on
TrevorNet.
