Mission of the Trevor Parents Diversity Partnership

The Parents Diversity Partnership (PDP), will be a school-wide organization open to all parents of the school who have an interest in diversity within the Trevor community. The PDP will work in concert with all other members of the Trevor community to achieve the school's mission to "confront issues of bias with openness and honesty... to ensure that everyone who joins our community feels a sense of belonging and to establish a community that is more and more diverse in its makeup and in its notion that diversity is an ongoing process at Trevor."

The PDP will establish parent programming at the school that will encourage meaningful dialogue regarding diversity and work in tandem with the Diversity Initiatives Steering Committee (DISC), the Parents Association as well as Trevor faculty and administration.

Philosophy:

As an organization, we will be responsive to all members of the Trevor community and open to a multiplicity of ideas. We will use as our guideline the vision, mission and values outlined in the Trevor Day School Mission Statement. The Parents Diversity Partnership will operate with the belief that celebrating, educating, respecting and supporting differences within Trevor is essential to the well being of our entire community.

Objectives:

How the Partnership Functions:

The general membership meets regularly within the school to plan and organize parent driven diversity activities. The group works cooperatively with the "Diversity Initiatives Steering Committee," (DISC).
