Faculty

The Trevor Day School Music Conservatory employs 17 professional musicians who excel in teaching the techniques and artistry of music to young people. The Music Conservatory faculty members embody the basic tenets of the Trevor Day School philosophy while infusing their own experiences and passions into their teaching. Teachers are encouraged to foster each child’s growth through individualized attention to student needs and interests. Teachers also are encouraged to use their own classical training to introduced students to a variety of musical techniques and repertoire to which they might otherwise not be exposed.

Throughout the school year, more experienced students are expected to master a number of classical pieces written or transcribed for their instrument. An emphasis on classical training often brings out the highest quality of performers of any style of music. Giving Trevor Day School students a foundation in classical training provides a palette of techniques and concepts from which students can draw as they explore the wide variety of musical experiences available to them.
